The room was a lot smalller than it appeared on the internet. We could not find a cart to load our luggage on. The ice machine was broken and I had to go to the lobby for ice. I informed the desk clerk about that and she said "oh sometimes it happens when we have a lot of guests, and it should be fine in an hour, so that it can reload with ice." I was there Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and it never reloaded, nor did someone ever fix it. There was no ice machine at all on the 2nd floor. I tried to get the Hotel channel on their tv and never got it. The maid spilled a drink on the counter. The exhaust fan in the very tiny bathroom didn't work at first, but finally they must have fixed it but there was no note informing us if anyone had been in the room. The front desk was not friendly they didn't even ask if I enjoyed my stay and would be happy for my return, which I will not. I know its an old hotel, but there were extenstion cords and only 3 outlest. We had laptops and phone chargers and not enough proper outlets. I was not comfortable with that situation at all. The back elevator, which we used a lot in the beginning, because it was easier access to the street, was broken on the 2nd day and never repaired while we were there, which was annoying because the main elevators were being used by several people. The only good thing about the Ellis Inn on the Square was the breakfast, which was pretty good! Spending over $* a night should qualify for a little more than a good breakfast. I won't be returning.

Our second family stay at the Inn on Ellis Square was generally positive. Our two suites were comfortable and clean. Check-in was initially smooth except that none of the key cards worked in either room. A second visit to the desk to correct this found a 1/2 hour line waiting to be checked in due to a full house and one operating register (so, come early!). In one of the rooms, a significant part of the sink countertop had come loose and fallen on the floor. Maintenance personnel were prompt and friendly while fixing this. The location is great for walking access to the Historic District and the hotel has character. We will consider returning next year for our annual family gathering in the Savannah area.

The hotel was under construction. There were elevators down. The hotel was hot in the lobby. I am really not one to complain. I'm really not. This may well be a great place to stay when it is not under construction, but it was a little rough when I was there. The toilet was hard to flush and it was a guessing game in the shower as to where you needed to turn the handle for hot water.

Check in is 4pm. We arrived at 5pm. We got our room at 6pm. Beautiful hotel in a great location. Employees were very polite and helpful, but the front desk is slow to check in guests. Stayed 4 nights and every afternoon/early evening the lobby was full of irritated guests trying to check in. Still, I would stay again if in Savannah.

I'll start with the good first since its not much. The room was clean. Now for the bad. The cable was bad. There were probably a total of 10 channels that came in fine, the rest were fuzzy at best. There is absolutely no enforcement of parking here. You have to pay to use the hotels parking deck, but dont expect to find a spot unless you get here early and never move your car. If you do use your car, expect to have to pay for parking elsewhere if you value your car. The parking deck had no room and when I questioned them about it I was told there was one spot per room but they couldnt even get a wrecker in there to remove the numerous cars I saw without parking permits in there. The gym was a joke. It only had a few cardio machines and barbells. I had to pay at another place to finish my workout. Also, the bathrooms in the rooms are smaller than the bathroom in my RV, and its not a large RV. One person can barely move around in them. The water pressure was non-existent. I had to stand directly under the shower to get wet. And to top it all off, NOT ONE drink machine on any floor took dollars, so bring change.
